Artist Statement

Throughout my life, I have explored my love and passion for childlike imagery in various forms and have grown to appreciate the vast impact it can have on those who interact with it. When I was a child, I felt I had to grow up quickly, so I pushed away a lot of my childhood experiences. As an adult, that point of view has changed, and I have used past joys as an escape and as a way to validate my emotions. Those reclaimed interests and ways of thinking have become a huge part of my identity today.

It has been a constant, never-changing safe space for myself and many alike. It gives us a chance to return to times that we may have taken for granted. It allows us to rewrite the past and transform gloom-ridden, bleak memories into ones we will feel happy to look back on. The drawings, cartoons, books, and films that I have interacted with as a child are what have made me want to be an artist. I allow the feeling of nostalgia and wistfulness to lead me as I start working. I draw, paint, and experiment to let out my inner child and to venture into a territory that is so often left behind and forgotten as we age.
